Itinerary

Day 1: Rome Arrival

Benvenuti a Roma! After you arrive at the airport, make your way to the hotel (an optional private transfer is available). Enjoy your first day in the city at your leisure.

In the evening, make your way to the meeting point for the ‘Rome at Sunset’ tour. Your local expert guide will lead you to discover the wonders of the Eternal City. It is charming by day, enchanting during sunset, and romantic by night.

After the walking tour, there is only one way to end this experience, enjoy a deliciously creamy Gelato, it’s on us! Return to your hotel for the night.

Day 2: Naples Tour – Pompeii Tour – Arrive in Sorrento

After breakfast, your trip to Sicily begins in earnest as you depart by coach, heading south, crossing the regions of Lazio and Campania. You will arrive in Naples and enjoy a panoramic tour of the city.

Afterward, you will leave Naples and travel south towards Mount Vesuvius and the town of Pompeii. Upon arrival, enjoy a traditional Neapolitan pizza lunch. After lunch, you will tour one of the most important archaeological spots in the world: the ruins of Pompeii, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

After the visit, you will drive along the Sorrentine Coast, arriving in Sorrento for dinner. (In Sorrento, we highly recommend that men adhere to tradition by wearing long trousers during dinner.) Meals: B, L, D

Day 3: Visit The Isle of Capri

After breakfast, get ready for an exciting excursion to the island of Capri. One of the most exclusive summer destinations in the Mediterranean!

Depending on the weather and sea conditions, you may have the additional opportunity to admire the dreamy Blue Grotto on a small rowboat.

Afterward, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and then roam the beautiful island of Capri at your own pace. Once back on the mainland, return to Sorrento in the evening for dinner. Meals: B, L, D

Day 4: Ferry from Sorrento to Palermo

After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely morning exploring Sorrento. In the afternoon, you will transfer to the port of Naples, where you will board the ferry to Palermo. Let the waves rock you to sleep. Dinner and breakfast the next morning is not included on the overnight ferry. Meals: B

Day 5: Palermo Arrival

Arrive in Palermo and transfer to your hotel. That night, have dinner and rest up for your Sicilian adventure. Meals: D

Day 6: Explore Palermo & Monreale

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, and then head out on a morning excursion to Monreale. Recently included on the UNESCO World Heritage List, Monreale is an ancient royal town famous for its almonds, olive oil, and citrus fruits, as well as for its fine Norman architecture. Visit the stunning Cathedral of Monreale and then enjoy some shopping at local delicatessens and souvenir shops.

Heading back to Palermo, you will venture out on a walking tour of the city. Wander the streets of the Old Town, hearing tales of Palermo’s 3,000-year history and discovering attractions like Palermo Cathedral. Walk inside the impressive-looking place of worship and marvel at its arches, cupolas, and mosaics with an incredible mix of influences coming from several denominations on the island. Enjoy free time in the late afternoon and return to your hotel for dinner. Meals: B, D

Day 7: Palermo > Erice > Saline > Agrigento

Early breakfast and departure to Erice — a medieval village stacked into the side of Monte San Giuliano. Continue to visit the Saline, an extraordinary lagoon where history, nature and archeology find a perfect synthesis, allowing the visitor to try different, unique and charming experiences.

Afterward, enjoy a boat trip to the islands, located nearby. With a helpful audio guide, you will admire all the islands of the lagoon up close, comfortably seated in the boat. After this wonderful experience, enjoy your lunch in a restaurant by the lagoon. Return to your coach and travel to Agrigento, your final destination of the day.

Visit Ancient Greek monuments and ruins at the Valley of Temples (entrance included) — a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Check into your hotel in the evening. Meals: B, L, D

Day 8: Agrigento > Piazza Armerina > Ragusa

After breakfast, travel to Piazza Armerina — a pretty and historic town nestled into the heart of Sicily. Visit the Villa Romana del Casale to admire the largest, richest, and most complex Roman mosaics in the world. It is one of the many UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Italy. The mosaics spread over 3,500 sq m and show mythological scenes and portrayals of daily life.

Next, you will journey to Ragusa, visiting the enchanting historical center “Ibla”, with its stunning baroque palaces and churches. Ragusa is listed among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Be enchanted by the elegant Cathedral of San Giorgio, the Church of the Souls in Purgatory, and the magnificent Cosentini palace, one of the most interesting Late Baroque palaces in Sicily! Day 9: Ragusa > Noto > Syracuse > Taormina

After breakfast, travel to Noto, a picturesque fishing town popular for its stately Baroque architecture. Continue along the south coast to Syracuse, on Sicily’s southeastern tip.

Visit Syracuse’s famous archaeological area, home to a vast collection of Greek and Roman ruins from all over Sicily. Head inside to see impressive landmarks such as the Greek Theater, the Roman Amphitheatre, and the Ear of Dionysius — an artificial limestone cave.

After the visit, cross one of the city’s bridges for a visit to the island of Ortygia — the most ancient part of Syracuse and home to a wealth of Baroque churches and medieval palaces.

In the late afternoon arrive in Taormina, check in to your hotel, and enjoy dinner. Meals: B, D

Day 10: Taormina & Mount Etna

After breakfast, head off to Mount Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe and the highest mountain in Italy. Learn about volcanic activity and marvel at the old lava fields and black magma rock that comprises Etna’s landscape.

If weather permits, you have a chance to climb to the summit (1800 m). Afterward, return to Taormina, the beautiful and romantic town located on Mount Tauro. Spend the rest of your day at leisure. Meals: B, D

Day 11: Taormina Departure
