  • The lavender season typically lasts 6–8 weeks, and efforts will be made to visit sunflower fields when lavender is out of season
  • The ferry to the Château d'If may be cancelled in adverse weather conditions. In that case, it is replaced by a walking tour of Marseille's Le Panier district, an area rich in history, street art, and independent shops
  • From price is CAD per person, based on double occupancy, and for travel in low season

Itinerary

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN NICE

Arrive in Nice and transfer to your hotel (optional private transfers are available upon request). Your tour guide will be available by phone and will welcome you at the hotel in the afternoon. Time permitting, set out to explore the French Riviera at your own pace.

Stroll along the elegant Promenade des Anglais, then wander through the narrow streets, colourful markets and lively cafés of Vieux Nice, the city’s charming Old Town. Overnight in Nice.

DAY 2: SAINT-PAUL-DE-VENCE & ÈZE DISCOVERY

This morning, travel to Saint-Paul-de-Vence, a charming hilltop village celebrated for its artistic heritage. Enjoy a guided walk along its beautifully preserved medieval ramparts, taking in sweeping views towards the Mediterranean. Catch a glimpse of the courtyard at the legendary La Colombe d’Or, where artists once paid their bills with original paintings.

Enjoy free time for lunch before continuing to the picturesque village of Èze. Explore its winding cobblestone lanes and artisan boutiques before visiting the Jardin Exotique d’Èze, home to an impressive collection of cacti and succulents, with panoramic views of the Mediterranean coastline. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Overnight in Nice. Meals: B

DAY 3: GRASSE & THE VERDON GORGE

Travel to Grasse, the world capital of perfumery, for a guided walk through its historic centre, including Place aux Aires and scenic viewpoints overlooking the countryside. Enjoy time to visit the famous perfume houses or relax at a local café.

Continue through the dramatic Verdon Gorge, stopping for photos at spectacular viewpoints such as Point Sublime. Arrive in Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, one of France’s most beautiful villages, with free time for lunch and exploration.

Cross the Valensole Plateau, renowned for its lavender fields, and visit a local lavender producer during the flowering season. Outside the lavender season, efforts will be made to visit Provence’s sunflower fields instead, subject to availability.

Dinner and overnight in the Luberon/Verdon area. Meals: B, D

DAY 4: VILLAGES OF THE LUBERON HIGHLIGHTS

Spend the day exploring the picturesque villages of the Luberon. Begin in Lourmarin, known for its elegant streets, welcoming cafés, and Provençal charm, and the final resting place of Albert Camus. Enjoy time for coffee and a stroll before continuing to Roussillon, where ochre-coloured houses create a striking backdrop. Enjoy free time for lunch and exploration.

Continue to Gordes for a scenic photo stop and a brief visit to its historic centre, followed by a visit to the nearby Sénanque Abbey, nestled in the Provençal countryside.

End the day in L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, the “Venice of Provence,” with a relaxing walk along its canals and picturesque riverside streets. Dinner and overnight in the Avignon area. Meals: B, D

DAY 5: AVIGNON & CHÂTEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE

Begin the day with a guided tour of Avignon’s magnificent Palais des Papes and its gardens, discovering the history of this impressive medieval papal palace. Continue with a walking tour through the city’s charming streets and lively Place de l’Horloge, followed by free time for lunch.

In the afternoon, travel to Châteauneuf-du-Pape for a guided winery visit and a tasting of the region’s celebrated wines. Finish with a visit to the château ruins, taking in panoramic views of the surrounding vineyards and Rhône Valley.

Dinner and overnight in the Avignon area. Meals: B, D

DAY 6: ARLES, LES BAUX & AIX-EN-PROVENCE

Travel to Arles, a historic Roman city closely associated with Vincent van Gogh. Enjoy a guided walk through its atmospheric streets, including admission to the impressive Roman Amphitheatre. Afterwards, enjoy free time for lunch and explore the city centre at your own pace.

Continue to the hilltop village of Les Baux-de-Provence, with time to browse artisan boutiques, wander its narrow streets and admire sweeping views of the countryside.

Arrive in Aix-en-Provence for a themed walking tour exploring the life and work of Paul Cézanne. Dinner and overnight in the Aix-en-Provence area. Meals: B, D

DAY 7: MARSEILLE, SAINT-TROPEZ & NICE

Travel to Marseille and take a ferry to Château d’If, with time to explore the historic island fortress. Return to the lively Vieux-Port for free time for lunch, perhaps sampling the city’s famous bouillabaisse at a harbour-side restaurant.

In the afternoon, continue along the Mediterranean coast, stopping in Saint-Tropez to soak up the harbour atmosphere and perhaps enjoy an ice cream by the water.

Arrive in Nice for your final overnight stay. Spend the evening at leisure or enjoy an optional traditional Niçoise dinner. Meals: B

DAY 8: NICE DEPARTURE
