Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & Taormina Lifestyle, Gourmet Walking Tour

Upon arrival at Catania airport, you will be greeted by your driver, who will bring you to your charming hotel in Taormina. Once it starts to cool down, you will take an easy walk into Taormina city center with your local guide.

Discover the main attractions of Taormina, its soul, and its lifestyle, as well as the best places for traditional pastries, ice cream, coffee, food and handicraft shopping.

Your local expert guide will show you the most important monuments and highlights of Taormina and tell you stories that help bring the landscape to life. Along the way, you’ll have three foodie stops — first in a family trattoria for fish selection and white wines, second in a typical Bottega for cheeses, salumi, bread, olives, and red wine tasting. And third in a small pastry bar to taste typical Sicilian sweets, liquors, and coffee. After the tour, enjoy a free evening in sparkling Taormina. Meals: D

Day 2: Taormina Cooking Class in Family Trattoria

After breakfast, start your foodie experience in the city center with the local guide/chef. Explore Taormina’s Food Market, where local farmers, fishermen and butchers sell their fresh goods. Select products for your class, with personal guidance from your chef. You will learn local culinary secrets to cooking homemade bread, pasta, fish and vegetable dishes in a traditional Sicilian style.

While eating what you’ve cooked with your own hands, you will enjoy the taste of local wines. After this traditional Sicilian cooking class, you will have a free afternoon and evening in Taormina to relax on picturesque beaches or hang out on your own. Meals: B, L

Day 3: Explore Etna Countryside on a Food & Wine Tour

After breakfast, start your trip to Mt. Etna with a pick-up from your hotel by a local foodie guide. Drive through small Etna villages, admiring authentic lava stone houses, orange, lemon, olive and almond plantations, all while listening to charming stories about Sicilian culture, traditions and food.

You will discover some of the most breathtaking views in all of Sicily as you head up the mountain to 1,000 metres above sea level. Your first stop will be at a traditional family-run winery. After a guided visit to the cellars, try volcanic wines with organic Etna appetizers in an astonishing lava stone open-air amphitheatre.

Continue your gastronomic experience to a picturesque farmhouse and enjoy lunch with lots of seasonal antipasti, homemade pasta, and typical pastries.

In the evening you will be dropped off in Taormina where you can enjoy some free time.

Day 4: Noto Walking Tour with Seafood Lunch in Marzamemi, with Transfer to Syracuse

After breakfast, meet your private driver in front of your hotel at 10 am and head to the magnificent town of Noto. Enjoy an easy walk with a local guide in a town of UNESCO heritage – a jewel of baroque. While walking, taste a famous Modica chocolate and Sicilian ice cream.

After the tour, move towards Marzamemi, an astonishing typical Sicilian fisherman’s village on the seaside; here, you will enjoy a seaside lunch in a family trattoria. Afterwards, you’ll transfer to your charming hotel in Syracuse where you’ll enjoy some free time in this romantic town. Meals: B, L

Day 5: Ortigia Food & Wine Walking Tour

After some free time in the morning and afternoon, you will meet your local foodie guide for a walking tour of Ortigia, Syracuse’s old town. On this tour, you will taste fresh fish, typical Sicilian appetizers, homemade Sicilian pastries, fragrant wines and liquors in three different food venues.

Eat and drink as locals do. During the tour, your guide will share with you a lot about the history, culture, lifestyle and gastronomy of the area as you pass the most important monuments and little hidden gems of the town. The tour will finish in the heart of Ortigia, allowing you to enjoy the town at night. Meals: B, L

Day 6: Syracuse Winery Tour with Lunch & Transfer to Palermo

After breakfast, your driver will pick you up and drive you to an old castle-like winery located in Syracuse’s countryside. The owner will welcome you personally, then give you a guided tour of the cellars and the old millstone.

Enjoy a light lunch with local organic products and a wine tasting in the magnificent courtyard. Appreciate the taste of wines produced in this Syracuse area and discover how they differ from Etna wines. After lunch, continue to drive for around 2.5 hours to reach Palermo. Time to relax with a free evening in Palermo. Meals: B, L

Day 7: Palermo Street Food Walking Tour

On this day, sample the best of Sicilian street food during a 3-hour walking tour of Palermo. This food tour, led by a local expert guide, explores the fascinating culinary world of Sicily’s capital and includes a visit to the famous and bustling Vucciria and Mercato del Capo outdoor markets. Here, you will taste five different Sicilian treats along the way — including ‘panelle’ (chickpea fritters) and ‘arancini (deep-fried rice balls). Pass through Palermo’s old town and the most important highlights, all while listening to the stories of your local guide. After the tour, enjoy a free evening in Palermo. Meals: B, L
