Itinerary

DAY 1: BARI ARRIVAL

Arrive in Bari/Barletta and check in at the hotel, available from 4:00 pm. Before dinner, gather with your guide for a welcome cocktail and an introduction to the tour. Enjoy dinner and settle into your hotel accommodation in the Bari/Barletta area. Meals: D

DAY 2: TRANI & MONTE SANT’ANGELO

Breakfast at the hotel. Depart for Trani to explore its charming historic center, known for its refined atmosphere. A stroll through the stone-paved alleys leads to the magnificent Cathedral of San Nicola Pellegrino, a masterpiece of Apulian Romanesque architecture rising majestically by the sea. Along the way, admire the Swabian Castle, the Municipal Villa, the old Jewish quarter with its synagogue, and the picturesque seafront promenade.

Enjoy lunch with local flavors before continuing to Monte Sant’Angelo in the afternoon to visit the Sanctuary and Cave of Saint Michael the Archangel, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Check in at one of the selected hotels for dinner and an overnight stay. Meals: B, L, D

DAY 3: VIESTE & SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO

Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy a guided walk through the historic center of Vieste, with its charming alleys, arches, and stunning sea views.

Savor lunch in a local restaurant before departing for San Giovanni Rotondo in the afternoon to visit the sites connected to the life of Padre Pio, one of the most venerated spiritual figures of the 20th century.

Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay. Meals: B, L, D

DAY 4: BARLETTA, ALTAMURA, BARI & ITRIA VALLEY

Breakfast at the hotel. Depart for Barletta and enjoy a guided walk through the old town, admiring highlights such as the Norman Castle, the Cathedral of Santa Maria Maggiore, the imposing Colossus of Barletta (known as “Eraclio”), and the historic site of the “Sótano del Challenge.”

Continue with a visit to a traditional oil mill, where you will also taste the region’s celebrated Altamura bread. After lunch, depart for Bari to explore its historic center, featuring the splendid Basilica of San Nicola, a masterpiece of Pugliese Romanesque architecture.

Transfer to your hotel in the Itria Valley for accommodation, dinner, and overnight stay. Meals: B, D

DAY 5: CASTELLANA CAVES, ALBEROBELLO & OSTUNI

Breakfast at the hotel. Depart for the spectacular Caves of Castellana, an impressive natural wonder. Continue to Alberobello, the “capital of the trulli,” for a guided walk through its monumental district, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Enjoy lunch at leisure before heading to Ostuni, the enchanting “white city.” Stroll through its picturesque historic center and visit the remarkable Romanesque-Gothic Cathedral.

Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay. Meals: B, D

DAY 6: LECCE & OTRANTO

Breakfast at the hotel. Depart for Lecce, known as the “Florence of the South” and the capital of Puglia’s Baroque. Explore the historic center with visits to the Basilica of Santa Croce, Piazza Duomo, and Piazza Sant’Oronzo, followed by a small oil tasting.

After lunch, continue to Otranto, the evocative “Gate to the East.” Visit its striking Romanesque Cathedral, including the Chapel of the Holy Martyrs and its atmospheric Crypt.

Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay. Meals: B, D

DAY 7: MATERA & RETURN TO BARI AREA

Breakfast at the hotel. Depart for Matera, whose extraordinary historic center has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the renowned “Sassi” districts, carved into the rock, with a special focus on Sasso Barisano and Sasso Caveoso, where ancient houses, rock-hewn wineries, and centuries-old churches reveal the city’s unique past.

Enjoy lunch, then continue toward Bari or its surroundings for hotel check-in, dinner, and overnight stay. Meals: B, D
