DAY 1: ARRIVAL, SCENIC BACKROADS & HIKE
Yours Outdoors Guide meets you at a designated meeting place or place of stay in Haliburton Highlands. Transfer along the Fall Colour Backroads route through scenic cottage country. Pick-up boxed lunch. Transfer. Visit the Historic Log Chute at Hawk Lake. Hike Crests of Kennisis Trail, enjoy fall colour and spectacular viewpoints. Lunch: Picnic or a la carte. Visit Minden White Water Preserve, host site of TO2015 Pan Am Games for Canoe/Kayak Slalom. A short hike on the trail along the Gull River. Transfer and check-in Sunny Rock Bed & Breakfast or Oakview Lodge and Marina. Enjoy free time before settling in for local dinner.
DAY 2: SCENIC BACKROADS, MAPLE EXPERIENCE
Breakfast. Check-out, follow Fall Colour Backroads route. Visit Haliburton or Minden Lookout, a short hike for a panoramic view. Transfer east to the wilds of Hastings County. Enjoy lunch en-route, transfer to participate in Maple Experience, OR enjoy scenic viewing colour vistas. Arrive and check-in at Spectacle Lake Lodge, an overnight private cabin. Enjoy dinner overlooking the lake.
DAY 3: DAILY ACTIVITIES & MAPLE SYRUP
Breakfast. Transfer to Sugar Maple Bush for a walk with a producer. After lunch, transfer east on the meandering backroads of the Ottawa Valley. Visit the Bonnechere Caves for an underground tour of karst limestone caves whose walls are embedded with Ordovician pre-vertebrate marine life. Arrive and check-in at the Best Western Pembroke Inn & Conference Centre or The Whitewater Inn. Short hike, cycle, or walking tour of Pembroke to take-in view over the Ottawa River or the charming village of Beachburg. Dinner local and overnight.
DAY 4: DEPARTURE
After breakfast, transfer to Pakenham. Visit and shop at Ontario’s oldest General Store. Transfer to Almonte, visit Mill of Kintail or Textile Museum. Afterward, enjoy lunch in Almonte or Perth. Optional overnight at Best Western Plus Parkside Inn & Spa.
