Itinerary
DAY 1: MILAN, VERONA, CORTINA D’AMPEZZO
Early morning departure to visit Verona, known worldwide as the setting of the most important love story ever written. While peering up at Juliet’s balcony, you will learn the history between two important Verona families on which Shakespeare based his tragedy. Next, we’ll visit Piazza delle Erbe, the old square and market, city hall, the tribunal, the Arena – Coliseum. Next we depart for Cortina d’Ampezzo, travelling through Val di Fiemme, Val di Fassa, and Passo Pordoi, parts of the Dolomites mountain range, Italy’s section of the Alps. Though this region includes many small mountain villages, the most renowned is Cortina d’Ampezzo, a popular vacation spot during summer and winter holidays that has often been featured in movies and has hosted various World Cup and Olympic events. Check into our hotel for some well-deserved rest.
DAY 2: CORTINA, LAGO DI MISURINA, TRE CIME DI LAVAREDO, LAGO DI BRAIES, VAL PUSTERIA AND VAL BADIA, CORTINA
Following breakfast, we will visit Lake Misurina, situated perfectly between the forest and the Dolomites Mountain peaks well-known among Alpine experts. A visit to Lake Braies is next, one of the deepest lakes in the region with waters so clear that its color is a unique shade of blue. Along the way we will see Val Pusteria and Val Badia, the most traditional valleys of the region, before returning to Cortina, where you will spend the rest of the day at your leisure and overnight at the hotel.
DAY 3: CORTINA, PASSO FALZAREGO, PASSO GARDENA, PASSO SELLA, CANAZEI, PASSO COSTALUNGA, CAREZZA, BOLZANO
This morning enjoy breakfast at the hotel before we travel through several Dolomite passes, including Passo Falzarego, with the most marvelous views both in winter and in summer, opportunity to venture to Sassolungo, a nearby mountain. Next, we travel to Canazei where you will have time to explore one your own and eat lunch. This afternoon we will visit Passo Costalunga and Lake Carezza, known for its brilliant shades of greens and blues, which earned the nickname “Rainbow Lake”. We continue our journey for Bolzano, an important commercial center during the Middle Ages; here will visit the gothic Duomo, and the Dominican church, painted with frescos dating back to the 14th Century. After winding through Via dei Portici and other central streets of this medieval town, we check into our hotel for a night of relaxation.
DAY 4: BOLZANO, TRENTO, MADONNA DI CAMPIGLIO, PASSO DEL TONALE, MILAN
After breakfast we will depart for Trento. Here you will see two 16th Century buildings: Santa Maria Maggiore, one of the first works of the Gothic Renaissance Age, and Palazzo Geremia. Next we will part of the day in the Trentino Dolomites well-known hiking and skiing destinations in the entire Alps region. Here you can enjoy lunch on your own before we head to Ponte di Legno, a popular winter ski resort that doubles as a relaxing summer destination. Then we visit Passo Tonale and embrace the remarkable views of the region before our return to Milan, where the tour will conclude.
