Summer can be very hot in Rome. So, among your city tours and visits, try something different. The green countryside area just outside Southern Rome, and close to the sea, is named Castelli Romani - that is Roman Castles, as their towns spot the hills with Medieval fortresses.

But the good news is that you could enjoy nature, monuments and delicious cuisine, as well. The typical wines and the roast pork Porchetta prepared in this area have an old tradition, and are very appreciated in all Italy! Especially the town of Ariccia is well-known for its Fraschette, casual osteria-type dining places whose name is derived from the old habit of nailing a vine twig on the cellar’s entrance with the purpose to advertise a new vintage. Frasca - and its diminutive fraschetta - means slender twig. So, beyond admiring the monumental building of Palazzo Chigi and the church of Santa Maria Assunta, designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, the same architect of St. Peter’s Square in Rome, you could give yourself a delicious treat.

With our local food connoisseur guide, you’ll enjoy some food and wine tastings that you won’t forget!
